We Are Certified B Corp

In February 2023 we certified as a B Corporation, joining the ever-increasing list of B Corps across the globe. But what does that actually mean?

B Corps are businesses that strive to maintain the highest social and environmental standards for both people and our planet. It’s how we’ve always done business since our inception in 2003 – by looking after our clients, taking care of our staff, partnering with our long-term suppliers, working within our community to support client events and charities and by minimising our impacts on the environment.

Find out more about the B Corp Movement and how it aims to transform the global economy to the benefit of people, communities, and our planet:

Who Are B Lab And What Do They Do?

B Lab, the non-profit network responsible for B Corp certifications, is transforming the global economy to benefit people, communities, and the planet. To certify businesses as B Corp standard, they assess five vital criteria: workers, the environment, governance, community and customers.

The B Corp Manifesto states clear standards, which require together we: –

— transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet

— economic systems change that we will realise our vision of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy

— create standards, policies, tools and programmes to shift the behavior, culture and structure of capitalism

— are changing the rules of the game so that businesses have to balance profit and purpose

— are building a movement of people using business as a force of good

— won’t stop until all business is a force for good

What Does B Corp Mean to Us?

“As we are part of an industry that is notorious for creating waste and using cheap labour, we are proud to be recognised as part of a community working against these practices for our employees and workers, community, customers, the environment, and for prioritising people over profit.

B Corp has not only been a benchmark for our progress in delivering our environmental and social goals, but also ensures that we are delivering across a multitude of aspects of running a business in the best possible manner. This process was as much about seeing how we can improve as it was celebrating all that we do well.”

What Does it Take to Become a B Corp Business?

Becoming a B Corp Certified Business is not a straight-forward process, and we have channeled a huge amount of attention in making sure that every
aspect of our business has been thought out and done properly. Here are some things you may not know about us:

– We have been recognised as demonstrating high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Corp assessment score of over 80 points

– We have strengthened our corporate governance to formally adopt B Corp’s stakeholder commitments

– We have provided transparency by sharing performance information for review and audit

– We achieved B Corp certification on our 1st application

Initiatives That Helped Make It Happen

#1 -Transparency

We have created a transparent supply chain
that is frequently audited and has reached
all necessary certificates.

#2 – Fabrics

We have spent years developing our ‘inspire’
collection fabrics that all contain repurposed
plastics in the new form of polyester.

#3 – Packaging

Our packaging has been developed over the
years to use as little plastic as possible. This
process is always evolving.

What Happens Next?

“We’re proud to have already exceeded the required 80 points to become certified B Corp. But we don’t intend to stop there.

Yes, we have already achieved the required high standard, but we see that only as our initial benchmark as a new B Corp and we aim to achieve an even higher score when we are re-certified in 2026. To maintain our B Corp certification, we need to continue documenting our positive impacts and undertake recertification every three years.

All departments worked incredibly hard to prepare the information required to achieve certification from the initial team meetings, working with our B Corp consultant during impact assessment, data collation and providing timely responses to answer audit questions raised by B Lab during evaluation and verification stages of certification. A real team effort throughout and a testament to the hard work of the team to continue deliver all aspects of our business.

There are a number of things we can improve on in the coming years and this is part of being a B Corp business. This first certification provides us with a road map of those aspects of our business as we continue to grow.”
